California's Lactation Accommodation Law, AB 1025, has been in effect since Jan. 1, 2002. The law is designed to give moms adequate break time and a private sanitary place to express breast milk for their babies.
California law supports breastfeeding mothers who work. Breastfed babies are healthier and that's good for business!
The California Lactation Accommodation Law requires the employer to provide:
An expecting mother should talk with her employer before her maternity leave to arrange where and when she will be able to express milk at work.
For more information on how you can support breastfeeding in the workplace, see Assembly Bill 1025.
