The goal of the Babies First Breastfeeding Task Force is to increase the number of women in Fresno County who breastfeed optimally through their infant's first year of life. The Task Force meets several times a year and participates in World Breastfeeding Week and California Breastfeeding Month as well as other events that raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding.
The Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Walk and Celebration was held on August 1, 2009, at O’Neil Park, located on the Fresno State Campus.
The event drew 200 walkers and 24 community sponsors to promote the health benefits of breastfeeding and support breastfeeding as the first step to a healthy life.
Participants enjoyed the 20- minute walk around the campus and were inspired by emcee, Christine Park, Channel 30 news anchor’s own breastfeeding story. Activities for children and raffle prizes were also made possible by sponsors and volunteers.
