SART Leadership Group
The Screening Assessment, Referral and Treatment (SART) Leadership Committee was first formed in 1999 in response to the risk that substance use during pregnancy posed to the infants, families, and to the greater community. The vision developed by this community group is "We envision a seamless continuum of comprehensive prevention and intervention services for substance abusing women and their families."
The committee is comprised of members of the community that serve pregnant and post-partum substance abusing mothers and their children. Groups represented include: private obstetricians, perinatologists, family medicine providers, the UCSF-Fresno OB program, perinatal treatment providers, the Regional Medical Center, the Department of Children and Families of Fresno County, and staff from the Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Program of the Department of Public Health.
Breastfeeding Task Force
The goal of the Breastfeeding Task Force is to support and increase the number of women in Fresno County who breastfeed their babies, optimally through their infant's first year of life. The Task Force has coordinated an annual Breastfeeding Awareness Walk and Celebration since 2006. Visit the Task Force Page
Preconception Health Task Force
The Preconception Task Force focuses on strategies to promote the important role of women’s health in impacting health pregnancies and babies. The members assist with development of media materials and education items.
